Make the Wind Your Friend on Court

Published in the July 2011 Issue of Tennis Life Magazine
By Curly Davis

The article offers tips on dealing with windy conditions in the tennis court. According to the author, when the wind is at a player’s back, he or she should counter its strength by hitting a topspin shot. He reminds players that when the wind is pushing against their faces, this will likely result in the opponent’s shot coming at them at a deeper and quicker space. For cross-court winds, he recommends aiming for the middle of the court when serving or hitting a return.

The wind is a great neutralizer; it doesn’t care if you are the top seed or not.

This article details how to handle wind in relation to  spins, position, cross court winds, serve and  shot selection.
